Presented By:

Dr. Andrew Clift, PhD, PG

Curator of Bedrock Core, Drill Cuttings Collection & ESOGIS Database

New York State Museum

&

New York State Geological Survey

Abstract: This presentation presents a detailed overview of the Empire State Organized Geologic Information System (ESOGIS), maintained by the New York State Museum – New York State Geological Survey, highlighting its role as a key resource for deep well information in New York. ESOGIS houses data for over 46,000 deep wells, including digital maps, academic papers, and other relevant geological resources. This session will focus on significant data types hosted by ESOGIS, such as geophysical logs and core photos, and discuss how the digital dissemination of these subsurface data supports integrated workflows for geological research and analysis across applied fields such as geothermal, hydrogeology, and environmental geology. Furthermore, the session will discuss ESOGIS’s utility for government, academia, and private industry in improving research pertaining to the study of New York’s subsurface geology, and provide information on accessing and utilizing ESOGIS data for geological investigations.

Approved For 1 NYS PDH Credit
