    D&B Engineers and Architects, P.C. (D&B), an environmental engineering firm headquartered in Woodbury, New York, is seeking to fill a senior-level hydrogeologist position in the firm’s Environmental Remediation and Multimedia Compliance Division. Candidates must be professionally motivated, experienced in site investigation and remediation, have at least a bachelor’s degree in either geology, water resources or hydrogeology. A master’s degree in one or more of these disciplines would be advantageous. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of recent direct experience with site investigation and remediation projects in New York State and must be able to successfully manage projects with minimal supervision.

    D&B is most interested in individuals who have in-depth experience with subsurface investigation projects, brownfield development projects, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Superfund projects, soil management projects in urban environments, petroleum investigation/remediation, groundwater remedial design, sub-slab depressurization system and vapor barrier design, remedial contractor oversight and preparation of plans, specifications and remedial construction estimates. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. A professional geologist (PG) license in New York State is advantageous but not essential. Forty hour HAZWOPER with current annual refresher required. Proficient in the use of the groundwater modeling software is recommended.

    FPM group provides environmental and engineering consulting services in the New York metro area and throughout the United States.  We are currently looking to fill an entry-level hydrogeologist position in our Ronkonkoma, New York office.

    The successful candidate must have a BS in Hydrogeology/Geology with strong data analysis and writing skills.  The position requires aptitude with document preparation in Word, data tabulation and manipulation in Excel, a firm understanding of basic geology and hydrogeology concepts, excellent written and oral communication skills in English, experience in data analysis, ability to work in a team environment in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings under variable weather conditions, and eagerness to learn new concepts.  Completed OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher training, as applicable, is considered a plus.  Current valid driver’s license and vehicle are required.

    Position Summary: Geologist/Environmental Scientist

    Laurel Environmental Geosciences, a full-service environmental consulting firm located on Long Island, is seeking a Geologist/Environmental Scientist with 4+ years of experience in carrying out environmental investigation and remediation projects.

    Primary responsibilities:

    • Under supervision of the senior staff, candidates will work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the region, primarily in the New York City metropolitan area.
    • Perform environmental site assessments, remedial and pre-design investigations, test borings, well installations, environmental sampling of various media, aquifer testing, pilot tests, implementation of air monitoring programs and remote sensing surveys.
    • Prepare and review work plans, technical reports and assist in preparation of presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
    • Develop investigation and remedial strategies for various types of commercial/industrial sites and collaborate in the design and installation of remediation systems.
    • Interact with subcontractors, clients and regulatory agency representatives.
    • Assist with proposals and business development activities.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering.
    • 4+ years of relevant professional experience preferably in environmental consulting.
    • Excellent communication skills and technical report writing.
    • MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook proficiency.
    • 40-hour HAZWOPER training - plus a current 8-hour refresher course.
    • Skills, such as, air monitoring, mold and/or asbestos surveying, are a plus.
    • Physical ability to perform field work in summer and winter conditions.
    • Valid U.S. driver’s license.

    Junior Field Geologist

     We are seeking recent graduates and junior-level Geologists with a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience for our New York City location.

    Prospective applicants must have either internship or academic experience in one or more of the following areas:

    ●        Providing oversight and logging of geotechnical explorations (borings, test pits, CPTs);

    ●        Developing laboratory and field testing programs;

    ●        Preparing reports, including the evaluation of collected field and laboratory results, preparation of figures and drawings;

    Applicants are required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology.  Certification towards licensure as a Professional Geologist is a plus.  Applicants with current NICET Geotechnical Certification Levels I, II, or III with NYC Special Inspection experience is a plus.  Applicants with OSHA 10-hr or 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus.  Applicants who have experience in performing engineering analyses (i.e., slope stability, foundation settlement, deep foundation design) is a plus.

    Applicants should have good writing and analytical skill, and be able to work in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. Please be aware that fieldwork is required. Applicants may be required travel to work sites in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey, with work being performed Monday through Friday and the possibility of occasional overtime, evening, and weekend work.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Provide environmental engineering services to assist the Posillico Materials Facilities to approve material into various facilities in NY/NJ and to help manage the movement of materials out of the facilities.

    The Environmental Engineer of Engineering Services is an integral part of a fast-paced department working on development projects of new industrial facilities and new real estate developments through affiliate companies.  Engineering Services supports all aspects of Posillico facilities including obtaining all related town and environmental permits and ensuring all compliance aspects of these permits are performed.  This position will assist senior management in project management, design and survey of projects.  Strong opportunity for upward mobility and rapid growth within the various divisions of the company.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Main responsibilities will be to manage and approve the waste profiles/applications and environmental data associated with applications to move solid and contaminated wastes into the Posillico facilities.  Specific requirements will include knowledge in the following areas:
      • NYSDEC Part 375 Soil Cleanup levels
      • NYSDEC Part 360 Solid Waste Rules
      • NJDEP Soil Cleanup Standards

    o   Serving in the capacity as (or training to be) a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) with the ability render professional judgements and to develop professional opinions and conclusions regarding the presence of contaminants in subsurface settings is a plus. 

      • Basic RCRA hazardous material management
      • Understand environmental analytical sampling reports
    • In order to fully understand the waste profile/applications the candidate should have the following knowledge:
      • Due diligence experience (Phase I/II)

    o   Environmental sampling experience and the ability to understand the associated laboratory deliverables are required

    o   Basic environmental compliance experience, RCRA familiarity, Brownfields experience, remediation design

    • Solid waste experience

    ·         Secondary Skills that would be helpful for the position include:

    o   Database management (ability to create database for all applications reviewed)

    o   Understanding the soil brokering business

    o   Wastewater treatment plant familiarity

    o   The ability to assist the Engineering Serviced Department with various environmental permitting and compliance work associated with the facilities (2 asphalt plants, 4 concrete recycling facilities, 1 repair shop, 1 clean fill reclamation facility and 1 Brownfield remediation site).

    ·         Must possess the ability to multi-task and have strong organizational skills

    ·         Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position

    ·         Ability to performed effectively in a fast paced environment; able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    ·         Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineer, or equivalent experience in related field

    ·         3-6 years’ experience

    ·         Computer experience required:

    o   MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Project
